Kampung Naga, traditional village located near Garut

Kampung Naga (direct translation: Dragon Village), is a traditional village located between Garut and Tasikmalaya in West Java. We had a hard time to locate this village. This village is quite famous, since it is shown in travel guide book Lonely Planet as well as Japanese Arukikata. There are only 110 houses in the village, with the same number of families only are allowed to be in the "Kampung". The villagers keep their traditional life here and no electricity was introduced to the "Kampung" except the accu battery. To locate this "Kampung", on the way from Bandung to Tasikmalaya, pay attention to the sign board written "Kampung Naga" on the right side of the road. The road down to the Kampung is in the left side of the road from Bandung where there is a huge parking lot (Rp 50000 for the parking). Guides are waiting near the parking lot (it is a must to have a guide, commission is up to you). It is also possible to do a home stay in the village. 450 stairs down to the "Kampung". (below)
